School Profile

School Facts

Trinity Presbyterian School is an independent corporation governed by an eighteen-member board. The school serves a student enrollment for kindergarten through the twelfth grade. The program emphasis is college preparatory, enabling students to adapt readily to the challenges of higher education. The unique dimension of Trinity’s program is the desire to integrate the Christian faith into the various dimensions of the program. The middle and upper school year is divided into four 9-week periods. All students are enrolled in a college preparatory program. Approximately forty percent elect to enroll in honors and/or Advanced Placement courses.

The total school enrollment for the 2006-2007 school year is 974 (295 in grades 9-12) with the class of 2007 numbering 72.

Graduation Requirements

The following requirements, established by both the State Department of Education and Trinity Presbyterian School, comprise the course of study.

Twenty-seven and one-half units of credit must be earned to meet these requirements for a college preparatory diploma.

Staff

The professional staff consists of 82 certified personnel; 66% hold a master’s degree. The student/faculty ratio is 12:1.

Accreditation

Trinity School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Trinity holds membership in ACSI, NACAC, SACAC, and The College Board.

National Merit Scholarship Competition

Trinity Presbyterian School has graduated 20 National Merit Finalists, 24 Semifinalists, and 21 Commended students.

College Placement

One hundred percent of Trinity’s graduates are accepted in post-secondary educational institutions. Christian Studies Program

The Christian Studies Program at Trinity is based on the inspired and inerrant Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. High school students are introduced to church history, Christian ethics, and Christian apologetics. In addition they examine the ideas of world religions and secular philosophies through the lens of a Biblical worldview.

Students learn to engage social issues and cultural trends with a Christian perspective, which enables them to make wise and virtuous decisions throughout life.

Trinity Academic Competition Team (TACT)

The TACT program is designed for upper school students who are academically gifted and highly motivated. Time is spent in preparing for various competitions held during the school year, including Envirobowl, Science Olympiad, and Scholars’ Bowl.

A: 90-100
B: 80-89
C: 70-79
D: 64-69

Note - This grading scale begins with the 2004-2005 school year and is not applied retroactively to past years.

Class Rank

Due to the homogeneous nature of Trinity students, class rank is not assigned. One hundred percent of Trinity graduates attend college after graduation.

All Trinity students pursue a college preparatory program. Beginning with the ninth grade, all subject semester averages are used to compute the GPA. Only advanced placement and honors grades are weighted. AP courses will be assigned 5 quality points for an A, 4 for a B, 3 for a C, 2 for a D, and none for an F. Honors courses will be assigned 4.5 quality points for an A, 3.5 for a B, 2.5 for a C. 1.5 for a D, and none for an F. Students are required to maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or above.

AP/Honors Program

Advanced Placement is offered in English Literature and Composition, Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Environmental Science, European History, Government, United States History, French, Latin, Spanish, Art History and Studio Art. Honors Anatomy and Physiology, Honors Biology, Honors Calculus, and Honors Chemistry are also offered.
