Fourth Grade

Welcome to fourth grade at Trinity. This is a synopsis of our fourth grade curriculum:

Bible

We use the Christian Schools International curriculum. We cover creation through the last days of Joshua.

Spelling

We use the ACSI spelling book. We enrich our spelling curriculum with spelling games and the super speller store.

Language

We cover parts of speech, mechanics of writing, diagramming, and creative writing. Our creative writing includes descriptive, persuasive, narrative, and expository writing. We also write poems and stories.

Math

We cover the following skills in math:

• Place Value
• Adding and subtracting greater numbers
• 2-digit multiplication and division with 2-digit divisors
• Geometry
• Measurement
• Fractions
• Graphs

Reading

Our reading series is Houghton Mifflin. We use selected stories and skills as well as incorporating a plethora of wonderful children's literature. Some of our favorites include, but are not limited to:

• Peppermints in the Parlor
• Dog Called Kitty
• Night of the Twisters

Science

Our curriculum is based on the Harcourt series. We cover topics such as:

• Animal Growth and Adaptations
• Human Body
• Matter and Energy
• Forces of Motion
• Water and Oceans

We love science experiments, but we must keep some things “under wraps.”

History

This is the year for Alabama History. The children really enjoy studying Indians, pioneers, the Civil War, and famous Alabamians. Our field trips enhance our study of Alabama History.

Social Studies

We study regions of the United States. The study includes the history and geography of each region.
